DPIIT and Roche Partner for Health Startup Boost

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has partnered with Roche India to support Indian startups working in critical areas such as oncology, rare diseases, ophthalmology, neurology, and haematology. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to foster innovation by providing early-stage healthtech ventures with access to global mentorship, advanced infrastructure, and international platforms.

Expanding support for startups in high-need health sectors

Under the agreement, Roche will extend support through pilot and validation studies, in addition to guidance on navigating regulatory frameworks, intellectual property, and clinical practices. The initiative is expected to boost the adoption of disruptive innovations and scale up India’s healthtech ecosystem with real-world validation and global alignment.

The MoU was signed in the presence of key officials including Dr. Sumeet Jarangal, Director, DPIIT, and Rajwinder Mehdwan, Managing Director of Roche Products (India). The collaboration also focuses on capacity-building in Good Clinical Practices, patient engagement strategies, and Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), further strengthening the sector’s knowledge base.

This strategic alliance reinforces India’s ambitions to position itself as a global hub for healthcare innovation.
