Air India which is owned by Tata group announced to use artificial intelligence (AI) lab OpenAI’s ChatGPT-driven chatbot and various other digital initiatives to upgrade and modernize systems of the Airline.
The airline invested around $200 million in its technology initiatives, including, digital engineering services, and in creating a cutting-edge digital and technology team in Kochi and Gurugram in India, as well as in USA’s Silicon Valley.
Vihaan.AI is the digital transformation program the airline has embarked on and made significant development along with upgrading other systems .
“The digital and technology modernization effort in Air India is being guided by Tata Group Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran and Air India CEO Campbell Wilson,” the company said in a statement.
Tata Group bought Air India in January last year and currently, Air India, Air India Express, AIX Connect and Vistara, a joint venture with Singapore Airlines are all part of the Tata Group.
The Airline will be using artificial intelligence (AI) lab Open AI’s Chat GPT-driven chatbot and various other digital initiatives as part of modernizing its systems.
Usage of Chat-GPT Based AI Bot
The Chat-GPT based Chat Bot will be used mainly for customer driven functions and that include customer service, notifications, website based information, real time customer support, mobile application guide and self-service assistance.
The investment in AI based technology will enhance digital marketing, customer feedback, quick mitigation of complex customer queries and employee engagement.

We are adopting a cloud-only, mobile-friendly, design-rich, AI-infused, digital-first approach to all our technology initiatives that we are executing with speed Ramaswamy further said.
Air India is also exploring emerging trends such as exploration of quantum computing to solve some of the complex optimization challenges often faced by the airline industry.
The Tata Group owns Air India, Air India Express, AIX Connect and Vistara, a joint venture with Singapore Airlines.
