Modern Computer Lab

Mumbai, March 07: As part of its CSR initiatives, Classic Marble Company (CMC) has instituted a modern computer lab for the tribal girls of Balwatika Society in Dadra and Nagar Haveli. A one-of-its-kind facility in the entire rural belt of DNH, the lab was inaugurated on Sunday, 6 March 2022 by CMC’s Director, Mr. K M Swamy. Launched two days ahead of International Women’s Day, the lab will benefit 160 girls from Classes 1 to 12 in basic and advanced computer skills. CMC aims to provide the girls with an opportunity to empower themselves in vocational skills to make them self-reliant and responsible citizens of society.

Last month, CMC had organised an architects’ motorcycle rally to raise funds for the education of girl children. For every architect participating in the rally, CMC donated an undisclosed amount for instituting the lab.

“I wish to thank Balwatika Society for allowing us the opportunity to do our bit for the girls. Education is empowerment and empowering every girl is the need of the hour. Every educated girl has the potential to become what she wants to be and contribute towards nation building. We dedicate the lab to these girls on the occasion of Women’s Day and wish them the very best,” says Mr K M Swamy, Director, CMC.

The computer lab is fully furnished with fifteen computers, tables and chairs and the girls will be trained by experienced trainers in basic computer education. Balwatika girls’ home accommodates exclusively the adivasi girls from far flung villages of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
