Hackers Evolved Strategy Results to Cyber-attack on 5 Servers of AIIMS

The latest in news is the Cyber-attack on five servers of AIIMS (All India Medical Institute) reported by Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In).
The CERT-In evaluated the incident. “As per preliminary analysis, servers
were compromised in the information technology network of AIIMS by
unknown threat actors due to improper network segmentation, which caused
operational disruption due to non-functionality of critical applications,” said
the minister of electronics and information technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

He added that “CERT-In and other stakeholder entities have advised necessary
remedial measures.”

The five servers that were affected by the cyber-attack in addition 1.3 terabytes
of data were encrypted. This is a huge amount of data when it comes to patient’s
data and other information relating to healthcare.
