HRAWI ‘Pledge To Vote’: Inspire Voter Turnout for 2024

Must Read

In a significant push towards bolstering voter awareness and participation in the upcoming General Elections, the Hotel And Restaurant Association (Western India), also known as HRAWI, has launched the “Pledge To Vote” campaign. This initiative is designed to empower citizens across Western India, reminding them of their crucial role in the democratic process by exercising their right to vote in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

With democracy at its core, the HRAWI has taken this opportunity to issue an advisory to its vast membership base, urging them to use their platforms to promote electoral participation. This directive extends to restaurants and hotels under the association’s umbrella, spread across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, and the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The members are encouraged to install placards within their premises to indicate the voting day for respective constituencies, serving as a constant reminder to patrons of their civic duties.

Hospitality for Democracy: HRAWI’s Role in Shaping Voter Awareness

Mr. Pradeep Shetty, President of HRAWI, emphasizes the significance of Voting, stating, “Voting is not just a right but a powerful medium for every citizen to influence the democratic governance of the country. Our ‘Pledge To Vote’ campaign is designed to instil a sense of responsibility and pride in fulfilling this civic duty.”

He further elaborates on the initiative’s unique approach by integrating incentives for voters, “Apart from installing placards, we have encouraged our members to offer special discounts on food bills to customers who show the indelible ink mark on their finger, indicating that they have voted. This not only rewards those who participate but also reinforces the importance of each vote.”

The campaign doesn’t stop at physical reminders and incentives. Recognizing the power of digital engagement, HRAWI is also taking to social media to spread the word. By posting alerts, updates, and reminders, the association aims to ensure that the message of voter participation reaches a broader audience.

Digital outreach is mainly targeted at the younger demographic, who are active online and can play a crucial role in influencing voter turnout through their networks.

Voter Participation in 2024

The “Pledge To Vote” campaign is not just a standalone effort, but part of a comprehensive series of awareness programs and outreach initiatives that HRAWI plans to roll out in collaboration with key stakeholders. These efforts are aimed at educating the public about the electoral process, the significance of each vote, and how it contributes to shaping the policies that govern them.

By doing so, HRAWI not only champions the cause of voter participation but also underscores the pivotal role of the hospitality industry in promoting civic responsibilities.

Looking at the broader impact of such initiatives, Mr. Shetty emphasizes, “It is crucial for every eligible voter to stay informed about the election dates, learn about the candidates, and understand the policies they support. We urge all eligible individuals not just to vote but to make an informed choice that truly reflects their aspirations for the governance of the country.”
