MSME Ministry plans to boost economic development along with employment growth – says Nitin Gadkari, MSME Minister

Nitin Gadkari, Union MSME Minister, and Prathap Chandra Sarangi took the charge of the Ministry in New Delhi.

Gadkari, who took charge of the ministry here, announced that the MSME sector offers significantly in pushing the nation’s economic development and creating a job. Small scale industries need to be encouraged to further push the growth of the nation, he told reporters.

The minister also told the reporters that the most significant work to be done in promoting the economic development of the nation by employment generation and the MSME Ministry is a center Ministry, which can produce jobs in rural, semi-urban and urban areas of the country.

“We have requested our secretary and economic advisor to inquire with the commerce ministry about the goods, which we are importing and if they can be manufactured by small-scale industries here,” Gadkari said. “The move would benefit in cutting the import bill of the country. Also, we can export things from India in a huge manner”

He also said that the ministry would concentrate on supporting micro units and village industries to boost the rural economy and create jobs. Raw materials are accessible in rural areas can be used by small units to manufacture various products, he added.

“MSMEs can help promote economic growth and create jobs,” he said, adding that the ministry is looking at what more can be done for the same. Further, he said that the ministry would look into the reasons which are leading to the closure of small units.

MSMEs contribute around 45 percent of the country’s exports, about 25 percent of the GDP from service activities and over 33 percent of the industrial output of India.

Gadkari member from Nagpur also includes the portfolio of Road Transport and Highways ministry. Apprehended for his administrative powers and innovative approach in addressing problems.
