How MSMEs can Build a Sustainable Business in the Aerospace and Defence Industry?

The Indian Aerospace and Defence (A&D) sector has been a million-dollar focus market for the various global Aerospace and Defence (A&D) sector. The Indian A&D market serves as an attractive domestic industrial product conglomerate to achieve the non-linear growth with the help of positions across the various A&D platforms. With the private sector being included in the A&D sector of India on a constant basis, the MSMEs (Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises) can have multiple sets of new customers to target now. Undoubtedly, this can increase the overall profit margin of the SMEs. With companies like Tata Advanced Systems Ltd having won the C-295 order in the partnership with L&T and Airbus has secured the tracked gun order in partnership with Samsung.

The early go-to-market approach and the committed identity need to be followed with the articulation by the leading MSMEs on the capabilities to support the right execution. In the Aerospace and Defence (A&D) sector, the MSMEs need to deliver a consistent quality in terms of being hygienic in the most precise specifications and to be critical to achieving reliability and overall performance. The aspect of the building of capability is not just limited to the adoption of the best practices of the industry or the development of the functional expertise, but rather on building the bespoken capabilities that would allow the SMEs to live the chosen identity. The government realizes the importance of the MSMEs in the development of A&D sector based in India with DPP (Defence Procurement Procedure) 2016 which aims to reserve the specific categories and the overall size of the “Make” programs for the MSMEs.
