The startups are best known for the quick implementation of their technical strategy and the rapid development in the field of innovation. The Indian firms or startups like fintech, e-commerce, or artificial intelligence; have undoubtedly made their mark in every sector nationally as well on the international market.
To add to the development of the country’s economy, the Indian Government has introduced initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Startup India’ to give a boost to the rising startups under the SME sector. With the rapid growth of the SME sector in every field, the startups have entered even the defence sector wherein they aim to deliver exceptional services for its upliftment and expansion on a global basis.
The defence sector which was earlier under the effects of the mega-companies, is witnessing a technological boom provided by these startups:
- Tonbo Imaging: This startup is located in Bangalore and is launching its product named as ‘Arjun’ for the defence sector. Arjun is an innovative design based on the principle of thermal imaging; is a tool which is designed for the weapons of small and medium caliber. The special feature of this effective tool is that it is extremely light-weight and small in size and thus it can benefit the defence sector as it can be used as a thermal imager which can be held by hand or can be even mounted on the helmet for TI –enabled sight. With the use of this innovative equipment, the soldiers can shoot their target sans the need to enter the line of fire.
- TimeTooth Technologies: This startup is located in Noida and has launched its product named as ‘Landing Gear’. Landing Gear by this startup SME is India’s first UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) or Drone which is given the name ‘Rustom II’. A team comprising of thirty members have launched the ‘Landing Gear’ by making the design, manufacturing it and conceptualizing its practicality in the defence sector. The drone can be used for high altitude and low range surveillance by the Indian Army.
- Aurora Integrated Systems: The startup is based in Bangalore and has launched the product known as ‘Urban View’ which is another UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) which is again used for the surveillance activities even during the day and night. The main feature of the device is that it operates by making less noise and poor visibility and hence, cannot be traced easily.
