The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has launched the MSME Trade Enablement and Marketing (TEAM) Initiative, a sub-scheme under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance Program (RAMP). Announced on June 27, 2024, this initiative aims to enhance MSME participation in e-commerce by leveraging Digital Public Infrastructure through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
With a financial outlay of ₹27.35 crore, the scheme is designed to support micro and small enterprises, with a particular focus on women entrepreneurs, by enabling them to expand their digital footprint and improve market access.
Empowering MSMEs Through ONDC
The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) has been appointed as the implementing agency for the TEAM Initiative, ensuring smooth execution and optimal fund utilization. The program focuses on educating MSMEs on e-commerce benefits and facilitating their onboarding onto ONDC-compliant Seller Network Participants (SNPs).
To drive awareness and adoption, NSIC is conducting workshops in collaboration with the Ministry of MSME, State Governments, industry bodies, and ONDC. These workshops will provide hands-on training, technical support, and insights into leveraging digital marketplaces, helping MSMEs increase their visibility and expand their customer base.
Accelerating Digital Transformation for MSMEs
The TEAM Initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in digitizing small businesses, offering them the tools and resources needed to compete in an increasingly digital economy. By integrating with ONDC’s open network, MSMEs will benefit from reduced dependency on major e-commerce platforms, lower transaction costs, and wider market access.
