WeAct Milestone: Empowering Women Micro-Entrepreneurs

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad, in collaboration with Accenture, celebrates a significant achievement. Their WeAct initiative empowers over 13,470 women micro-entrepreneurs across diverse sectors spanning 17 states and 2 union territories in India.

Tailored Support Across Industries

WeAct’s ‘Empower Rural Women Entrepreneurs’ vision has provided tailored training and support to women micro-entrepreneurs, with 5,625 in Food & Agriculture, 5,921 in Handloom & Handicrafts, and 1,924 in household supplies sectors. The initiative focuses on enhancing business profitability and sustainability through market access, product development, and access to finance.

Driving Business Efficiency through Technology

Under WeAct, women entrepreneurs are equipped with technological skills to streamline operations and enhance competitiveness. Comprehensive business development services including business planning, marketing, and management support are offered, enabling entrepreneurs to enhance efficiency, increase profitability, and achieve sustainable growth.

“We are thrilled to have trained and supported hundreds of women micro-entrepreneurs through our WeAct initiative. This milestone reflects our dedication to empowering women entrepreneurs, and driving positive change in local economies”, said Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII.

By providing tailored training and support, we aim to create a conducive environment for women to thrive as successful entrepreneurs, catalyzing sustainable development”, said Dr. Raman Gujral, Director, Department of Projects (Corporate), EDII.

Transformative Impact and Key Highlights

Under the leadership of Mr. Samuel Moses Amarnath, WeAct has spearheaded transformative programs focusing on new product development, elevated packaging standards, and embracing technological advancements. Key highlights include:

  • Completion of over 3500 statutory compliance processes
  • Onboarding of more than 2700 members onto e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart
  • Provision of product development services to over 2800 members
  • Participation of over 4000 members in energizer workshops and exposure visits
  • Involvement of over 1000 members in exhibitions, resulting in revenue generation of ₹79 lakhs
  • Facilitation of financial assistance totaling ₹45 lakhs
  • Measuring enterprise revenue growth impact of ₹2.5 Crores after WeAct’s intervention
