National SC-ST Hub and BAP Help Inclusive Enterprises Grow

Must Read

The National SC-ST Hub Scheme of the Ministry of MSME is helping entrepreneurs from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes strengthen their businesses through capacity building, structured mentorship and market support. The initiative is designed to remove long-standing barriers such as weak access to finance, technology, markets and institutional networks, while helping enterprises become more competitive and resilient.

Building Enterprise Capability

At the centre of the scheme is a strong focus on capacity building. The training goes beyond basic business lessons and covers areas such as financial management, tender participation, pricing strategy and regulatory understanding.

That approach matters because many small enterprises do not struggle only with demand, but with the systems needed to compete in formal markets. By helping entrepreneurs understand compliance and market processes, the programme aims to improve both confidence and business sustainability.

Business Accelerator Support

The Business Accelerator Programme has become a key part of that effort. It provides structured mentorship, industry insights and targeted interventions to help enterprises improve strategy, pricing, operations and market readiness.

Across sectors, the programme has helped entrepreneurs move from informal or fragmented operations to more data-driven business models. That shift is especially important for firms that want to participate in government procurement and larger supply chains.

Examples Of Impact

One example is a West Bengal enterprise in fire safety equipment that improved its pricing and cost structure through the programme. With better positioning, it was able to secure government procurement orders worth ₹8.48 lakh from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.

In Assam, a renewable energy company strengthened its business processes and improved its readiness for government tenders after joining the programme. In Maharashtra, a hydraulic cylinder manufacturer used insights from the accelerator to secure a ₹5.10 lakh tender from Steel Authority of India Limited.

Broader Inclusion Goal

The scheme is doing more than helping individual businesses. It is also helping turn entrepreneurship into a pathway for inclusion, economic participation and long-term growth.

By combining capacity building with guided support, the National SC-ST Hub and BAP are helping enterprises move closer to mainstream economic opportunities. The larger aim is to ensure that more SC/ST entrepreneurs can scale sustainably and contribute to India’s wider development goals.
