The Madhya Pradesh government is planning to develop 81 new industrial areas across the state to create a bigger land bank for micro, small and medium enterprises. The move is aimed at expanding industrial activity, supporting local entrepreneurs and generating employment at the district level.
Industrial Land Expansion
The MSME Department has begun the process of transferring government land in different districts for the proposed industrial estates. Out of the 81 planned industrial areas, five have already been approved and work is underway on them.
MSME Commissioner Dilip Kumar said the government wants to set up industrial areas in every Assembly constituency that currently does not have one. The goal is to make industrial land available closer to local markets and resources so small businesses can grow more easily across districts.
Addressing Land Constraints
Officials said the initiative is meant to solve one of the biggest challenges MSMEs face: access to affordable industrial land with basic infrastructure. The proposed parks will offer smaller plots along with roads, power, water supply and drainage facilities.
District administrations are working with the department to identify suitable government land parcels. Once land is transferred, development will depend on the size, location and demand from local entrepreneurs.
Sectors Likely To Benefit
The new industrial areas are expected to support a wide range of MSME sectors. These include food processing, engineering, fabrication, packaging, furniture, agro-based industries, textiles, garments and other small manufacturing activities.
The department is also looking at undeveloped land parcels that can be allotted in phases. In places where demand is stronger, fully developed industrial estates will be prioritised to speed up business activity.
Local Employment Push
The state government believes the new parks will help promote district-level industrialisation and create more jobs locally. By building industrial infrastructure closer to entrepreneurs, it hopes to reduce the concentration of business activity in a few urban centres.
For MSMEs, the expansion could mean better access to plots, lower entry barriers and more room to set up operations in their own districts. The larger plan is to create a more distributed industrial base across Madhya Pradesh.
