AMUL is the most trusted and the leading brand in the field of food and beverage industry in India. It has also become the India’s 22nd most trusted brands. It is already a recognized name in the beverage industry as it claims to be the largest producer and distributor of the processed milk and milk products in India. In addition to the beverage sector, Amul has also given the green flag to the food industry by initiating the selling of the food items under its initiative Amul Green.
GCMMF (Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation) has cut the ribbon to the Amul Green initiative by setting up a retail outlet and restaurant over an area of about 5800 square feet at Anand near the Amul Dairy.
The Managing Director of GCMMF, R S Sodhi has confirmed the development of this initiative that has been the first of the company. He said that the authorities had the space available for the project at the spot of the Amul Dairy. Therefore, they thought about experimenting with the idea of setting the food outlet at the center. He added that the format that has been set up in the location is a small one as of now. To expand the food market under the brand name of Amul Dairy, they have been planning to sell pulses, grains, spices, oil and several more. These food items will be sold under the brand name of Amul Green from the stores.
The restaurant that has been launched in the premises of Amul Dairy, Anand is known by the name “Amul Foodland”. It aims to expand the roots of the food industry by offering quicker services and would serve food items like patties and burgers. The retail outlet of the Amul Green is expected to sell around 6500 items including food products and other items in the food and beverage industry.
The Amul Green brand would be selling items like nuts, pulses, oils, spices, grains, and several other items at the retail outlet. These products are stored in bulk at the cooperative stores and are then packaged and sold under the Amul Green brand name. The main idea of this cooperation is to obtain the food items directly from the farmers such that the farmers also get better prices for the sale of the food items.
Amul has been constantly moving up in the scale of SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) under the food and beverage industry. It is now ranked 13th as the World’s largest dairy organization. The brand name of Amul has surpassed the leading pioneers in the Dairy production and distribution over the world like Muller of Germany, Land O’Lakes & Schreiber Foods of the United States, Mengniu of China and the Groupe Sodiaal of France. In India itself, Amul has been listed as the most attractive F&B (Food & Beverage) brand out of as many as 156 brands as per the TRA research.
