Digital Entrepreneur Siddharth Rao, Co-founder of Webchutney & Punt Partners Passes away, Creates Vaccuum in Add World

Digital Advertising’s growing phenomena is related to a polished and most effective ways of doing business, for businesses of all sizes to expand their reach and create channels which are diversified revenue means.

A self-educated digital entrepreneur and visionary Siddharth Rao is credited in bringing Digital advertising in the Indian scenario, Co-founded Digital agency ‘Webchutney’ in 1999 and launched Punt Partners a mar-tech (marketing tech) venture in 2022, has passed away on 21 April 2023 due to cardiac arrest.

Siddharth Co-founded Web chutney with Sudesh Samaria, 23 years ago and remained there as CEO, went on to become India head when Dentsu a Japanese multimedia firm acquired Webchutney in 2013.

In 2022 he announced Punt partner along with his partner Madhu Sudhan and was very excited on his new venture as creating a digital platform for modern marketer was a new creative journey to embark.

In an era when India was on the verge of adopting digital means of advertising and doing business, Siddharth Rao was way ahead of his time, and he successfully created a s strong brand as ‘’Webchutney’.

Rao’s sudden demise has left the entire advertising community in shock created a vacuum that may be difficult to fill. He is survived by his wife and parents.

Some of the key achievements of Dentsu Webchutney:

  • The first assignment Webchutney created was a website ‘Gutterspace’. Gutterspace helped Webchtuney acquire several assignments to make websites for the corporate world.
  • Webchtuney as an agency was awarded Number 1 Digital Agency in India of the Year 8 times in a row under Rao’s guidance.
  • Dentsu Webchutney (now Dentsu Creative) in 2022 won the Agency of the Year at Cannes Lions for ‘The Unfiltered History Project ’for Vice Media. Rao had quit Dentsu a month before the win.
  • The firm received honors for the work it did for Vice Media’s production ‘The Unfiltered History Tour’, a project that Rao had green lighted. However, he himself had quit Dentsu just a month before the recognition.
