IMC and IIT Bombay organized conference on ‘Building Smart and Intelligent MSME’ to focus on equipping digital business solutions

IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IMC), a legendary organization with a single minded focus on sustainable growth, organized a conference on ‘Building Smart and Intelligent MSME: Harnessing Digital Business Solutions’ with IIT Bombay in Mumbai.
The one day conference was conferred by guest of honour Dr Ajay Kumar, IAS, Former Defence Secretary, Government of India along with Mr. Mr M D Agrawal, Convener and Co-Chairman -Digital Technology Committee, IIT Bombay, Mr. Anant Singhania, President, IMC, Mr. Samir Somaiya, Vice President, IMC, Ms. Sheetal Kalro, Deputy Director General, IMC and other key dignitaries from the chamber.

The key objective of the conference was to highlight the importance of
digitalization in the MSME segment. The one day conference saw delegates,
event speakers, professors, and participants who came together for sharing
thoughts and discussions to make the Indian MSME segment future ready and
digitally strong. Several eminent speakers from Industry shared their insights
and emphasized upon the need for Digital transformation across sectors like
Defence, Pharma, IT, Finance, Digital Technology, digital business and more
for building competitiveness and a robust economy.

Dr Ajay Kumar, IAS, Former Defence Secretary, Government of India inaugurated
the session with his valuable remarks on ‘Development of defence industry
ecosystem and taking its learnings for other sectors of MSME’. He added that
India is currently one of the top 25 defence exporters in the world, and that
there is a demand for India’s defence exports on a worldwide scale. A major
amount of the defence exports are manufactured, he continued, by start-up
and MSME enterprises. He emphasised the significance of government initiatives
that offer MSMEs discounts and incentives. Additionally, he highlighted the
successful rollout of Jeevan Praman’s digital services for retirees, stressed the
significance of implementing IT solutions quickly, implemented a policy framework
to support the MSME sector, and tapped the tremendous opportunities and
potential of MSMEs and startups in AmritKaal of Independence.

Mr. Anant Singhania, President, IMC said, “MSMEs significantly contribute to the
nations financial health and means of subsistence. Its progress and resilience
represent the growth of the new India. Small digital businesses must be helped
to increase their competitiveness, performance, and growth given their significant
impact on the national economy. It is possible to achieve this by implementing
e-commerce and digital economy programmes for the benefit of these MSMEs.
The Covid-19 pandemic hastened the course of digital transformation and increased
the urgency. Government of India is relentlessly making policies to support this
growth spurt and it has been made possible with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s
‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ vision.”
