India’s food processing sector is poised for significant expansion, projected to reach USD 535 billion by 2025-26, as outlined by Anita Praveen, Secretary of the Ministry of Food Processing. During the FICCI Scientific Symposium on ‘Processed Foods for Purpose,’ Praveen emphasized the critical role of research and development (R&D) in achieving this growth, highlighting the sector’s status as a priority within India’s agricultural landscape.

“The food processing sector has become one of the priority sectors for growth,” stated Praveen. With the foundation of robust growth already laid, the focus is now shifting towards enhancing R&D efforts to elevate the sector to new heights. It’s a great time for the food processing industry,” remarked Praveen.
