‘Maharashtra Divas’ A Day to Celebrate The Sprit, Zeal & Passion of the State & its People

Saluting the spirit of Maharashtra & its people, SMEVenture, Wishes’ A Heartiest, Prideful and Happy ‘Maharashtra Divas 2023’ to all our well-wishers, readers, colleagues and community.

The Maharashtra Divas is celebrated on May 1st as the State Recognition act 1956 was passed on this day and Bombay was given recognition as state.

This was mainly done to recognize the demand of Marathi and Konkani speaking people who wanted to create separate identify, lost in midst of various other linguistic communities who resides their mainly Gujarati and kutchi.

The Samyukta Maharashtra movement became the face of the protest who wanted to make sure the Marathi speaking people get recognition in their own state. Maharashtra is one of the biggest states of India and occupies a large portion of the Deccan plain in the westerly peninsular section of the subcontinent.

The Maharashtra Day also known as ‘Maharashtra divas’ is celebrated with happy spirit remembering some of the great souls of Maharashtra who by their efforts, zeal and service made not only Maharashtra proud but as a whole our country proud and we as citizens salute them for their immense contribution.

Prominent amongst them are Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, father of Indian constitution, Shivaji Maharaj the Greatest of warriors, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar one of our great freedom fighters, Savitribai Phule who was a teacher, reformer and champion for girls education in the state, Lata Mangeshkar, whose voice mesmerised the entire nation and the world to name few among the greats.

This day is celebrated with a parade which is held at Shivaji Park every year, where the Governor of Maharashtra give’s his speech. Large crowd attends the parade and colorful celebration with dance, songs and musical rallies is conducted throughout the state.

Men and women wear traditional colorful attires like saffron turban and white kurta, women in traditional sarees and jewelry are decked up.

Mumbai, the state’s capital, is the commercial capital of India and has evolved into a global financial hub. The city is home to several global banking and financial services providers.

Maharashtra has emerged as a key hub for IT & electronics, captive business outsourcing industries and biggest hub for entertainment industry in India.

Today as we celebrate the Maharashtra Divas, we again fill our heart and soul with great pride and take vows to take our state towards new heights and make India shine in glory.
