MSME Infrastructure in India is due for an upgradation

Must Read

The MSME ecosystem is at a very crucial step in India. Majority of
technical work is done by the MSMEs which further facilitates the top
tier industries in India. They are essentially the backbone of the Indian
economy. The potential benefits of the MSME ecosystem has far
reaching impacts on the Indian diaspora. A lot of young entrants into
the workforce that have been added recently find potential
opportunities to get themselves enrolled into this sector as a variety of
wide ranging opportunities are present. Infrastructure in India in any
sector has a long history to follow. After the post- independence era, a
lot of economic policy changes took place in the last few decades.
These policy changes were pivotal in their attempt to change the face
of the country which it is today. India has already embarked on a
tumultuous journey of excelling in the field of Science, finance,
architecture, art and other domains.

The face of the Government in India had its different phases of ups
and downs. This has led to enormous changes in the way of life is
conducted in India. Many different sectors have received extended
support from the Government in order to proceed ahead and the give
and take relationship has been relatively winning on both the ends. The
marriage of the private and the public sector has led to the opening of
new floodgates for new opportunities and the establishment of newer
business ideas. The top cities like Delhi & Mumbai had massive
influx of capital from the outside and the competition level is increasing
day by day. The demands of an average Indian has also been on the
rise. This is precisely the sole reason why MSMEs need to focus on
catering to the wide growing population of the country and if done
correctly will be the golden path to its success.

Infrastructure Development Program has been undertaken by the
Ministry to focus specifically on the infrastructure development of the
MSME sector and their continual maintenance. This requires a lot of
efforts from the policymakers end. It has thus been observed so far that
the Government is very keen on providing the necessary benefits to the
MSME sector as it understands the overall appeal and importance of
this sector moving forward. They have set up variety of schemes for the
development of the MSME businesses. Industrial Infrastructure
upgradation scheme has been instrumental in bringing about the
necessary changes that are required. This had led to many business
finding newer ways to accommodate themselves into the sector and avail
the benefit of the scheme.

There is a dire need and importance of technology upgradation in India.
Majority of the modern business processes can be further optimized
with the help of modern technology and methods. MSME technology
upgradation scheme comes into play here. There are many different
tool stations and technical institutions that have been set up for the
benefit and welfare of the people working in the MSME sector.
Government of India (GoI) has adopted the cluster development
approach as a key strategy for enhancing the productivity and
competitiveness as well as capacity building of Micro and Small
Enterprises (MSEs) and their collectives in the country. A cluster is a
group of enterprises located within an identifiable and as far as
practicable, contiguous area and producing same/similar
products/services.
The essential characteristics of enterprises in a cluster are
(a) Similarity or complementarity in the methods of production, quality
control and testing, energy consumption, pollution control, etc
(b) Similar level of technology and marketing strategies/practices
(c) Channels for communication among the members of the cluster
(d) Common challenges and opportunities.
The infrastructure development centre has led to the creation of
infrastructural facilities like power distribution network, water,
telecommunication, drainage and pollution control facilities, roads,
banks, raw materials, storage and marketing outlets, common service
facilities and technological backup services for MSMEs in the new/
existing industrial estates/areas. Sustainability is another area where
the MSMEs are working with total efforts. The improvement in the
overall infrastructure will help the MSMEs to achieve the overall goals
of their respective ESG standards. A greener and a cleaner MSME helps
to build a robust ecosystem for the current workers and also the people
who are keen on joining this sector in the recent future.

Industrial Infrastructure upgradation scheme had a very positive overall
impact on the MSMEs that are operating currently and many
businesses are joining hands and collaborating to achieve their goals.
MSME infrastructure in India is on the cusp of a massive transition and
the preliminary effect of that is being currently observed by all the
market participants. There is tremendous amount of growth potential
within the MSME sector once the barriers of infrastructure
development is sorted entirely. The objective of the Governments
scheme is to urge all the MSME market participants to make use of the
energy efficient technologies for their production and manufacturing
processes so as to reduce the cost of productions and the emission of
the GHGs. One other powerful objective of the Government is to
encourage all the MSMEs to acquire appropriate licenses and
certifications from National/International bodies and adopt
technologies that are far efficient as per the global technological
standards.

The Infrastructure development program has helped a majority of the
MSMEs to contribute their share in the overall improvement of the
sector by doing their own part. The MSMEs are obliged to the
policymakers for their keen interest and efforts to alleviate the growing
pains of this sector by introducing various schemes and increasing the
possibility of a better outlook for the MSME sector. MSME
infrastructure in India has gone through an immense change in the
recent years due to the collective efforts of all the key stakeholders.
This gives a ray of hope for the future possibilities of more high quality
MSME businesses and their influx leading to a state of hyper growth for
the Indian economy is the one worth waiting for.
