As organizations navigate rapid digital transformation, the need for intelligent, integrated, and people-centric HR systems has never been more critical. From streamlining workforce management to enabling data-driven decision-making, HRTech today sits at the core of business efficiency and employee experience.

At the forefront of this evolution is Ms. Sonali Chowdhry, CEO of Officenet, who has spent over two decades reimagining how organizations manage their people through technology. Under her leadership, Officenet has grown into a leading SaaS-based HR platform, serving over 10 million users while championing innovation, simplicity, and a people-first approach.

Drawing from your early career and previous roles, what experiences shaped your interest in entrepreneurship, and what eventually led you to take the leap with OfficeNet?

Early in my career, I got a close look at how organizations actually function day-to-day, especially when it came to managing people and processes. I often found myself thinking about how much time and effort went into fixing inefficiencies that could have been avoided. Over time, it became clear that many growing businesses were dealing with scattered HR systems and outdated ways of working. That’s what pushed me to start OfficeNet, something that could genuinely simplify how organizations manage their workforce.

What were some early challenges you faced in your journey, and how did those experiences shape your resilience and mindset today?

The initial phase was definitely challenging, there’s always uncertainty around building the right product, finding your footing in the market, and earning trust. There were moments when things didn’t move as quickly as I had hoped, but those experiences really taught me patience and perspective. I learned to focus on building something meaningful over time, rather than chasing quick wins, and that mindset has stayed with me.

As you grew into a leadership role, especially in the tech space, did you encounter moments of bias or scepticism? How did you establish your voice and credibility?

Yes, there were moments of scepticism, especially in a tech-driven space where expectations around leadership can be quite fixed. Instead of trying to prove a point, I focused on the work, building a strong product, listening to customers, and delivering consistent results. Over time, that naturally builds trust and credibility.

What role has mentorship or a support system played in your journey, and how do you approach giving back today?

Having the right people around you makes a huge difference. Whether it’s mentors who offer guidance, peers who share their experiences, or your own team, that support system helps you stay grounded and make better decisions. Today, I try to give back in small ways, by sharing what I’ve learned and supporting others who are starting out on a similar journey.

Pertaining to OfficeNet—what core problem in the market that you are looking to address, and what makes your approach stand out in the market?

At its core, OfficeNet is about making HR and workforce management simpler for growing organizations. A lot of businesses still juggle multiple systems or manual processes, which can get overwhelming and inefficient. We bring everything together on one platform, whether it’s attendance, payroll, compliance, or employee management, so things just work more smoothly.

From a technology perspective, we use automation, data insights, and easy-to-use dashboards to help businesses make quicker and better decisions. What really sets us apart is how simple and adaptable the platform is, it’s built around how organizations actually work, not the other way around.

How do you ensure OfficeNet stays innovative and keeps pace with evolving technologies and customer needs?

For us, innovation really starts with listening. We stay closely connected to our customers and understand what they need as they grow. It’s not just about adding new features, but making sure what we build is actually useful and easy to use. Whether it’s improving workflows, adding automation, or refining the user experience, the focus is always on making things better in a practical way.

Looking ahead, what is your larger vision for OfficeNet and the impact you hope to create in the industry?

Our goal is to be more than just a software provider, we want to be a growth partner for organizations as they scale. As businesses evolve, their needs keep changing, and we want to be there through that journey, helping them manage their people and processes more effectively. Ultimately, it’s about building workplaces that are more efficient, transparent, and people-focused.
