Breaking Barriers and Building Sustainability: Ms. Kinjal Bosamia’s Green Energy Story

Must Read
By Raksha Choubey

In today’s rapidly evolving energy landscape, creating real impact requires more than business skills, it requires vision, purpose, and a deep commitment to making a difference. For Ms. Kinjal Bosamia, CEO and Executive Director of KNB Green Energy, this commitment began with a simple yet powerful observation: India generates vast amounts of agricultural waste, while industries still rely heavily on fossil fuels. Rather than seeing this as just a problem, she saw an opportunity to turn waste into clean energy, support rural communities, and drive sustainable industrial growth. Her journey is a testament to resilience, hands-on leadership, and the power of purpose-driven entrepreneurship.

1. To begin on a personal note, how did your entrepreneurial journey start, and what inspired you to step into the renewable energy and biomass sector?

My entrepreneurial journey started with a simple yet powerful observation. India generates a massive amount of agricultural waste, while industries still rely heavily on fossil fuels. I saw both a challenge and an opportunity in this. The idea that waste could be transformed into a valuable, clean energy resource deeply inspired me. Renewable energy, especially biomass, felt like a sector where business growth and environmental responsibility could go hand in hand. This very belief became the foundation of KNB Green Energy.

2. As a woman leading a manufacturing and energy-based company, what personal or professional hurdles did you encounter, and how did you overcome them?

Being a woman in a traditionally male-dominated sector was not always easy. There were moments when I had to work twice as hard to be taken seriously. However, I let my work, knowledge, and consistency speak for themselves. By maintaining confidence, continuously updating my technical understanding, and building strong professional relationships, I turned challenges into strengths. Over time, that effort earned respect as well.

3. In the early days of KNB Green Energy, what were the key challenges you faced, and how did those experiences shape you as a leader?

The early phase was full of challenges, limited awareness about biomass fuel, resistance to shifting away from conventional fuels, operational hurdles, and the task of building trust in a new brand. Each challenge pushed me to learn quickly, make thoughtful decisions, and remain resilient. Those initial struggles shaped me into a more practical, adaptable, and a focused leader. They taught me that perseverance and clarity of purpose are just as important as strategy.

4. KNB Green Energy focuses on converting agricultural waste into eco-friendly fuel. What motivated you to choose this path, and why is it especially important for India today?

India is an agrarian country, and the burning of crop residue is a major environmental problem. Converting this waste into biomass briquettes and pellets not only helps prevent pollution, but also provides farmers with additional income and offers industries a cleaner fuel alternative. This approach supports energy security, rural development, and sustainability and these are the three critical priorities for India’s future. It was this larger purpose that inspired me to choose this path.

5. Your vision centres on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through biomass briquettes and pellets. How does this vision translate into real-world impact for industries and the environment?

Our vision is about more than just replacing fuels, it’s about creating a cleaner, safer, and healthier world. By transforming agricultural waste into biomass energy, we help industries reduce their impact on the environment, improve the air we breathe, and create safer workplaces. At the same time, it allows businesses to operate more responsibly and sustainably. Knowing that our work can protect the planet, support communities, and leave a positive legacy makes every step of this journey deeply meaningful.

6. Looking ahead, what is your long-term vision for KNB Green Energy, and on a personal level, what continues to inspire and drive you every day as its CEO?

Looking ahead, my vision for KNB Green Energy is to grow it into a trusted leader in India’s biomass and renewable energy sector, while also expanding our impact on a global scale. I want our solutions to become the natural choice for industries seeking clean, sustainable energy and not just as a business decision, but as a meaningful step toward protecting the planet.

On a personal level, what inspires me every day is knowing that our work touches lives in multiple ways, it creates cleaner air for our communities, empowers farmers and rural families with new opportunities, and contributes to a future where sustainability is not optional but a way of life. Every challenge, every decision, and every success feels deeply rewarding when I see the positive difference we are making, and that sense of purpose is what drives me to keep pushing forward with energy, passion, and unwavering commitment.

Ms. Kinjal Bosamia’s journey is a powerful reminder of what happens when passion meets purpose. By turning environmental challenges into solutions that benefit both people and the planet, she is not just shaping the future of clean energy, she is also touching lives, empowering communities, and showing that one person’s vision can create a ripple of positive change. Her story inspires a new generation of leaders, especially women, to believe that with determination, courage, and a heart for impact, it’s possible to build a better, more sustainable world for all.
